Om arrangementet
Insects play one of the most important roles in nature. They pollinate flowers, keep our soils healthy and play a major part in the food chain. Insects also have incredible life histories, complex social structures and show incredible diversity. This evening will be a chance to get up close and personal to the small terrestrial creatures that inhabit the Porter valley. We will search for butterflies, hoverflies, bees and much more! We will end at dusk with a moth watch, attracting these fascinating creatures with a specialist light trap. Find out about leaf mining caterpillars, wasps that inspired the 'Alien' films and much more. Join Ben Keywood from Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, who has studied insects since childhood and will lead us into the fascinating, often overlooked world of mini-beasts.
