Hi Conservation Volunteers,
Many thanks for turning up this morning in rather dismal weather and reducing temperatures and increasing rainfall. It was the first time we have visited Bluebell Wood and it was interesting to find evidence of allotments from many years ago. These allotments were separated by many privet hedges which have grown out of control. Privet trees now grow in profusion and are out of place and intrusive. A very good start was made clearing the privet by the 18 volunteers in attendance. Piles of cut privet now await the Council chipper.
A special thanks to volunteers from Sheffield Dept for Work and Pensions (DWP) who did sterling work and braved the cold and wet with fortitude and enthusiasm.
The next work day is at Forge Dam on Tuesday 26th November starting at 10.00am.
Thanks again.
Dave Clegg
