Hi Conservation volunteers,
A very very wet morning!! We welcomed around 15 volunteers from DWP at Shepherd Wheel. However, it was raining so hard that the planned work around the dam was considered too hazardous. We therefore relocated to Forge Dam and tackled a number of tasks. Daffodil bulbs were planted on the bank beside the dam, a large quantity of brambles were pulled out along the north side of the dam and more work was carried out on the wall rebuilding project. A worthwhile collection of tasks completed in very heavy rain. Some volunteers were even heard to say they had enjoyed themselves! Congratulations to them for sticking to the tasks. Thanks to the cafe for providing hot drinks.. The weather was so bad in fact that the cafe was planning to close early.
Special thanks to John , Rod , Rowena, Simon and Rachel of our regular volunteers who directed operations at Forge Dam and to Chris and Philip who came down to Shepherd Wheel at 10.00am ready for work.
The next work morning will be at Forge Dam on Thursday 10th October. We may send a work party down to Shepherd Wheel to carry out work on the dam, weather permitting!
Thanks for today's efforts in spite of the weather.
